Piquant Sauce Recipe

Piquant sauce is a spicy, pungent offering that can pep up just about any bit of meat. This piquant sauce recipe comes straight from cookitsimply.com. It’s a quick easy way to spark up pork chops – just grill the chops for 7 mins each side, cover with the sauce and bake for 45mins at 180 degrees. Many piquant sauce recipes call for gherkins and capers too, so add these if you like.

  • 1 tbsp ┬ávegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsps tomato puree
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 280 ml (1/2 pint) water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsps fresh lemon juice
  1. Fry onions until brown
  2. Add stock cube, tomato puree, sugar and mustard then mix well
  3. Slowly add the water and bring to the boil
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice.

Job done!
