  • 1 tbsp  vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsps tomato puree
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 280 ml (1/2 pint) water
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsps fresh lemon juice
  1. Fry onions until brown
  2. Add stock cube, tomato puree, sugar and mustard then mix well
  3. Slowly add the water and bring to the boil
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice.
