Chicken Jalfrezi
This chicken jalfrezi is a modern take on a classic dish. Shaan Khan is a bit of a hero of mine, a down to earth indian restaurant owner who is more than happy to share his secrets with the rest of us. This chicken Jalfrezi recipe is exceptionally tasty, take a look and see what you think!
Ingredients for Chicken Jalfrezi
- 50g Butter
- 4 Green Chilli’s
- 1 Tbsp Cumin and Turmeric
- 1 Tsp Cumin
- 5 Garlic Cloves
- 6 chopped tomatoes (fresh)
- 1kg chicken pieces
- 1/2 pint of water
- 1 tbsp of yogurt
- 1 capsicum pepper
- 1 large chopped onion
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 chopped tomato
- 2 tsp garam masala
Method for Chicken Jalfrezi
- Start by frying 4 green chilli’s, cumin and garlic in the butter with about a tsp of salt.
- After a couple of minutes add the chopped tomatoes
- Another couple of minutes add the turmeric
- When you have a nice gravy (after about 5 mins) add the chicken
- Add the water and yogurt and simmer for about 20 minutes
- Whist that’s cooking, in another pan heat some oil and add the chopped capsicum pepper and the onion and fry for a couple of minutes
- Add a tsp of Cumin and 1 chopped tomato
- Add 2 tsp garam masala
- When the chicken curry is done, add the two together, give it quick stir and enjoy your chicken jalfrezi!

Sounds awesome, however, wouldn’t you eat pheasant for it’s subtle gamey flavour? Why spend the money of pheasant when you could use chicken? Let me know…
