This chicken jalfrezi is a modern take on a classic dish. Shaan Khan is a bit of a hero of mine, a down to earth indian restaurant owner who is more than happy to share his secrets with the rest of us. This chicken Jalfrezi recipe is exceptionally tasty, take a look and see what you think!
Ingredients for Chicken Jalfrezi
50g Butter
4 Green Chilli’s
1 Tbsp Cumin and Turmeric
1 Tsp Cumin
5 Garlic Cloves
6 chopped tomatoes (fresh)
1kg chicken pieces
1/2 pint of water
1 tbsp of yogurt
1 capsicum pepper
1 large chopped onion
1 tsp cumin
1 chopped tomato
2 tsp garam masala
Method for Chicken Jalfrezi
Start by frying 4 green chilli’s, cumin and garlic in the butter with about a tsp of salt.
After a couple of minutes add the chopped tomatoes
Another couple of minutes add the turmeric
When you have a nice gravy (after about 5 mins) add the chicken
Add the water and yogurt and simmer for about 20 minutes
Whist that’s cooking, in another pan heat some oil and add the chopped capsicum pepper and the onion and fry for a couple of minutes
Add a tsp of Cumin and 1 chopped tomato
Add 2 tsp garam masala
When the chicken curry is done, add the two together, give it quick stir and enjoy your chicken jalfrezi!

Sounds awesome, however, wouldn’t you eat pheasant for it’s subtle gamey flavour? Why spend the money of pheasant when you could use chicken? Let me know…
Mouth watering recipe. Its is a great recipe. But I am a
little doubtful about how many days we can store it for. As we use
yogurt here, will it stay good for a longer time? Please
advice.
I love chicken and try different recipes with it. I am glad I found this blog. I wanted to prepare a new dish for my daughter’s birthday and she loves chicken. I think this recipe will be the “one” for her:)
