Chilli Sauce Recipe
This chilli sauce recipe takes minutes to make, can be eaten hot or cold and goes with pretty much anything (I’ve even used it as an ingredient for salad dressing!).
Ingredients for chilli sauce recipe
- 1 can of chopped tomatoes (450g)
- 1 onion
- 4 fat cloves of garlic
- 3 teaspoons of mint sauce
- Half a scotch bonnet chilli (or whatever works for you)
- Generous dash of white wine vinegar
Put all the chilli sauce ingredients together in a blender and whiz. Chill for a couple of days to allow the flavours to come together and enjoy your chilli sauce on food or as a dip!
Thanks to Michael Seven to putting me on the path of this recipe – he went to his local kebab shop, asked how they made their chilli sauce and brought some to a BBQ along with some marinated chicken and pitta! What a guy 🙂
I worked in a few kebab shops when I was young and the old recipe was always a blend of white cabbage, onion, chillis, passata and lemon (you can also add a a bit of garlic) I make a batch every week; healthy and super tasty.
small white cabbage diced (or half a medium sized one)
Large white onion diced
couple cloves of garlic
300g passata
juice of 1 lemon
2 large red chillis
pinch of salt
Pop everything into a blender until smooth.
This is great! I’m definitely going to try this one. Many thanks 🙂
Superb! I live near around 8 kebab shops and in all the chilli is rubbish. I travel around 14 miles to a kebab shop just for the chilli and your is pretty damn close. Certainly close enough to save me lots of miles. I think the secret is the white firm cabbage.
Thanks a lot
